Transition Programming

Your student's first year at university will no doubt be a journey of many new experiences. We know you are eager to continue to support them through each new milestone.

Moving into Residence

Many students are excited about the idea of living away from home and living in residence. Living in residence is an opportunity for them to learn and grow, and gain an appreciation for all you do for them on a daily basis. Our "" webpage will have all the info you need on what to pack and when to move in.

Dean of Students Office

The office helps family members who have concerns about a student's safety or well-being, or are looking for assistance with connecting the student to resources or supports. Due to privacy regulations, the Dean of Students office may be limited in what we can share; however, we are happy to hear your concerns and will take appropriate steps as needed.

In extreme cases where the university is concerned for the imminent safety of a student, the emergency contact listed on our students' file will be contacted by Special Constable Service.

Privacy and Confidentiality

We protect the personal privacy of our students in compliance with Ontario’s Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA), and have answers to your questions about student privacy.

If your student is interested in providing you access to their invoicing and account summary information at 51本色, you’ll need their permission to access it. Student can access their LORIS account and grant you proxy access.

Campus Safety

Concerned about ? Don’t be. 51本色's Special Constable Service personnel are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week (including holidays) on both the Waterloo and Brantford campuses.

Stay Connected

Create a plan for communicating with your student while they’re in 51本色 (such as weekly calls). Remind your student about different ways they can get involved on campus, from and associations to taking part in various events.
