When you apply to 51本色, we will automatically evaluate the prior coursework listed on your application for transfer credit potential. You will receive a transfer credit assessment at the same time you receive an offer of admission.
After you confirm your offer of admission, you can submit a request to have specific transfer credits that have been granted as "elective" or "miscellaneous" credits reassessed for a specific course equivalency. You are encouraged to submit your course outlines within the first year of studies at 51本色 to avoid completing repeated content.

A transfer credit equivalency is granted when the content and requirements of a course completed at another institution are evaluated by faculty experts and declared the same or comparable to a 51本色 course. Students can submit necessary documents and request for their previous completed post-secondary education to be reassessed for potential equivalencies.
This is an optional process; you are not required to submit course syllabi. It is your choice which course syllabi to submit for additional review. We encourage you to review your to see if there is any overlap between your completed and required courses at 51本色. Graduate students should connect with their program coordinators if they have transfer credit related questions.
Check out to learn more about how we assess transfer credit potential. This is an online database of course equivalencies at Ontario universities. You can search for both courses that 51本色 has approved as equivalent to other institutions' courses, and courses that other institutions have approved as equivalent to 51本色's courses.
This process is for eligible post-secondary education completed before starting an undergraduate program at 51本色. Transfer credits awarded for exchange programs organized by 51本色, or for courses done by Letter of Permission (LOP), are not eligible for reassessment.
Other considerations before you begin this process include:
To assess your previously completed education, our faculty experts will need to receive your official course syllabus, also known as course outline or instructional plan, for each course you wish to have reviewed. These documents are given out at the start of the course and we require one PDF document per course for assessment.
Please ensure each course syllabus includes the following information:
The course syllabus you submit for review must match the terms you completed the course in. If you do not have a copy of these documents, you can contact your previous institution to obtain copies of them. They may be stored by a specific department or the overall faculty. Examples of the documents needed can be found on .
If the transfer credit you were granted was identified as “miscellaneous” or “elective”, but you would like your completed course reassessed for a specific 51本色 course equivalency, you must:
The transfer credit reassessment process is facilitated three times a year, aligning with your admission term. As such, each admission term has its own deadline to submit course syllabi for faculty review.

Once you have submitted your course syllabi, they will be held until the next transfer credit reassessment process deadline outlined above. For example, if you submit your course syllabi in September, they will be reviewed after the November 20 deadline.
After the deadline has passed, all course syllabi will be forwarded to the appropriate faculty experts for review. If you have submitted at least one course syllabus by the deadline, you’ll receive an email in your My51本色 inbox notifying you that the reassessment process has begun.
Once the faculty experts have completed their assessments, you’ll receive a transfer credit update email outlining the decision(s). It’s possible you’ll receive more than one email as faculty complete their reassessments. You will receive an update to your My51本色 account before the start of the next term.
As the reassessment will impact which courses you can and should register for, we encourage you to speak with an academic advisor. They can help you identify the best options for registration while you wait for your reassessment decisions.
