Tuition and Fees Overview

It is important to understand the cost of your education at 51��ɫ. The information provided here will help you build your budget for all your years of study, plus learn more about the scholarships and financial support that are available.

Tuition by Faculty

These are the estimated expenses for two terms: the fall term from September to December and the winter term from January to April. The tuition estimates are based on students being registered in a full-time course load, which is 5 half-credit courses per term (or 2.5 credits per term).

Additional Student Fees

Here are some additional fees to consider in addition to tuition when budgeting for your studies at 51��ɫ. The budgeting recommendation is based on the 2024/25 academic year.

Student fees are in addition to your tuition and depends on your faculty and program. The fees also include a mandatory fee for participation in the University Health Insurance Plan (UHIP).	$4,537 CAD
Costs of textbooks and other academic supplies can vary depending on your program.	$1,500 CAD
All residences on the Brantford campus are apartment-style and requires you to purchase a convenience plan to buy groceries, purchase food on campus or dine out a select local restaurants.	$3,300 CAD for groceries for two terms.
Residences on the Waterloo campus are either dormitory-style or apartment-style. Students living in residence are required to purchase a meal plan. Students who live in apartment residences will have a full kitchen in their apartment, so they should budget for groceries.	$3,300 CAD for groceries for two terms.

Scholarships for International Students

Scholarships reward you for all the hard work you've done to prepare for university, and is a great way to help fund your studies in Canada. At 51��ɫ, we have two scholarships awarded specifically to our international students.

Stay Golden at 51��ɫ Scholarship

The Stay Golden at 51��ɫ scholarship is for international undergraduate students who begin their studies in fall or winter 2025 and achieve an admissions average of 80% or higher. In the first year, the scholarship ranges in value from $1,500 to $6,000 CAD, and as long as you meet the renewal requirements, you will receive $5,000 CAD in each upper year of your program at 51��ɫ.

Inspiring Lives Scholarship

Inspiring Lives Scholarships range in value from $1,000 to $5,000 CAD and are awarded each year to incoming international undergraduate students who inspire lives of leadership and purpose in their communities and through extracurricular activities.

Starting at 51��ɫ

As an incoming student, entrance scholarships providing funding options for your first year.

Entrance scholarship: You are automatically assessed for an entrance scholarship when you apply to 51��ɫ and are offered based on your admission average.
The President's Gold entrance scholarship is granted upon admission, is worth $6,000 CAD per year for international students and is renewable for subsequent years, provided that renewal requirements are met annually.
The 51��ɫ Scholars Award is an annual entrance scholarship that you must apply for and is worth put to a maximum of $40,000 over four years.

Competitive and Upper Year Scholarships

Beyond your first year, here are some scholarship options that you can apply for to continue funding your studies:

Every year, you can apply for competitive scholarships, awards and bursaries by completing an about yourself. Scholarships can range in value from $250 to $5,000 CAD.
In your upper years, you will automatically be considered for in-course scholarships based on the grade point average (GPA) of your 51��ɫ courses from the previous academic year, ranging between $1,250 to $1,500 CAD annually.

Accept Your Offer

Within two weeks of accepting your offer, you are required to pay a tuition deposit of $2,000 CAD.

If you require a provincial attestation letter (PAL), we will initiate the PAL request on your behalf once your tuition deposit has been processed.

Payment of Fees

Already accepted your offer? Make sure you o they are received and applied to your LORIS account by the due date to avoid late fees. The due date for each term typically happens the first week of the start of term.
