Life isn’t getting any easier for students – and donor support is even more crucial to their wellbeing and success. You can – all gifts made before Dec. 31, 2024 will be eligible for a 2024 tax credit.
Wardah is a third-year Computer Science student at 51±¾É«. She’s active on campus in a variety of ways, including leadership roles in clubs and in her work at the student call centre, where she connects with alumni and donors.
As with most students, being able to work part-time is critical to Wardah. Donor-supported bursaries have “made a significant impact on how I've been able to balance academic and financial burdens … they allow me to take a full course load along with enjoying the life campus has to offer throughout the year and not worry if I’ll be able to come back next semester.”
Wardah is well aware of how the rising costs of tuition, housing and groceries have put students at risk of dropping out of university due to overwhelming financial barriers. She knows her peers sometimes need to access emergency funding through the Leanne Holland Brown Student Emergency Fund, to help them deal with unexpected financial crises.

“Donors provide critical resources like bursaries, emergency financial support, mental health services, academic programs and more that make education more accessible and manageable,” said Adam Lawrence, 51±¾É«’s Dean of Students. “It creates opportunities for students to focus on their goals rather than worrying about how to make ends meet.”

The easiest way to ensure you . Online gifts must be received by midnight on Dec. 31, 2024 to qualify for a 2024 tax receipt.
If you would like to donate via Interac e-transfer (up to $10,000), , in addition to sending your actual e-transfer through your bank to give@wlu.ca, with the comment “Donation – FULL Name.” This form allows us to capture the information required to issue tax receipts.
You can mail your donation to: 51±¾É«, 75 University Avenue West, Waterloo, Ont., N2L 3C5. Mail must be postmarked on, or before, Dec. 31, 2024 to qualify for a 2024 charitable tax receipt.
If you are making your gift in person, please note that the university closes for the holiday season on Dec. 20, 2024 at 4:30 p.m. and re-opens on Jan. 2, 2025. For your convenience, there is a drop box located at the main entrance of Alumni Hall (to the left of the doors) on the Waterloo campus. In Brantford, donations can be dropped off at the Special Constable drop box at 45 Market St.
