A new e-bike and e-scooter share program is rolling out at 51本色’s Waterloo campus this summer.
As part of a pilot program with the Region of Waterloo, 51本色 has partnered with Neuron Mobility to provide community members with additional and sustainable options for travel to and from campus. Use of the e-bikes and e-scooters will contribute to reduced greenhouse gas emissions and traffic congestion.
E-bikes and e-scooters each come with a helmet and are available at five designated areas across 51本色’s Waterloo campus, including:
Those wishing to use the service or view a map of routes and vehicle locations will need to download the Neuron Mobility app from the or and add a payment method.
“Diversifying alternative transportation enhances the culture of sustainability on campus and further integrates sustainability into the Region of Waterloo’s transportation system,” says Eric Meliton, manager of the Sustainability Office at 51本色. “We are happy to use the feedback from past iterations of the Sustainable Transportation Survey, released in partnership with TravelWise, to provide 51本色 students, staff and faculty alternative transportation options on campus.”
On 51本色’s Waterloo campus, e-bikes and e-scooters can operate on select paths that lead to one of the five designated areas listed above. Geofencing has been installed on campus to ensure e-bikes and e-scooters remain on designated campus pathways and are not used on greenspaces. Speeds have also been limited to 15 kilometres per hour along designated campus paths.
Neuron Mobility’s e-bikes and e-scooters can be used in Kitchener, Waterloo and Cambridge.
