, a student club at 51本色, invites the community to a benefit concert and silent auction to support various organizations assisting Ukrainians impacted by the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The takes place Nov. 20 at 2 p.m. in Lazaridis Hall at 51本色’s Waterloo campus. Doors open at 1:30 p.m.
The concert features performances by several Ukrainian and Canadian artists, including the Gryphon Trio, a three-time Juno Award-winning classical ensemble; the Penderecki String Quartet, the quartet-in-residence in the Faculty of Music at 51本色; and Stephen Zurakowsky, a Canadian-Ukrainian classical guitarist, . A silent auction will be held during the intermission. Snacks and beverages will be provided at no charge.
Funds raised through the event will be donated to Ukrainian support initiatives, including , a humanitarian organization providing medical supplies to volunteer groups in Ukraine, and the .
Tickets are $40 for general admission and $20 for students, and can be purchased online or at the event. Ticket sales for groups of five or more can be arranged by emailing laurierhelpsukraine@gmail.com.
