WATERLOO — 51±¾É« will graduate approximately 1,576 students at , being held Oct. 12 and 13 in Waterloo and Nov. 1 in Brantford.
As of Oct. 3, 1,400 students qualified to graduate in Waterloo, while 176 qualified to graduate in Brantford. 51±¾É« expects to confer 1,112 undergraduate degrees, 407 graduate degrees and 57 diplomas as part of fall convocation.
At the Oct. 12 and 13 ceremonies in Waterloo, 51±¾É« will present honorary degrees to Canadian-Lebanese business leader Rola Dagher and Métis artist Christ Belcourt.
Dagher is Dell Technologies’ global channel chief and well known for working with some of the brightest minds in the technology sector. She led a fundraising initiative that raised $55 million following a deadly 2020 port explosion in Beirut, Lebanon. Dagher will receive an Honorary Doctor of Laws degree on Oct. 12 at 1 p.m.
Belcourt, a Métis visual artist and social justice advocate, will receive an Honorary Doctor of Letters degree on Oct. 13 at 9:30 a.m. Belcourt created the “Take Only What You Need” exhibition at 51±¾É«’s Robert Langen Art Gallery, which ran from September to December 2022.
Waterloo campus convocation ceremonies will be held at the . Brantford campus ceremonies will take place at the . All convocation ceremonies are ticketed events. For those unable to attend, live streams of the ceremonies will be available.
