I am Mohawk-Ukrainian and member of the Six Nations of the Grand River. As a community-engaged practitioner and researcher, I have over 25 years of experience working with and within First Nations communities in lands and resources, education and training, and research and capacity-building. My interdisciplinary research focuses on water planning, management, and governance in the context of security, sustainability, justice, and change.
I am a 51本色 graduate with a PhD (2013) and MA (1996) in Geography. I also hold a BEd from Brock University (1996), and honours BES from the University of Waterloo (1992). My interdisciplinary research focuses on water planning, management, and governance in the context of security, sustainability, justice, and change, with an emphasis on elevating Indigenous Peoples voices, knowledge, and experiences to inform policy and practice.
I have research assistantships opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students interested in water resources and/or with direct experience in community engaged qualitative research or Indigenous research. I am willing to supervise graduate students in the areas of water resources, climate change, Indigenous self-determination, and related interdisciplinary collaborative research to support Indigenous community planning.
