We are delighted to welcome internationally acclaimed mezzo-soprano and 51本色 alumna Allyson McHardy (BMus ’91, OpDip ’93) to the Faculty of Music this Fall as a voice instructor. Allyson’s illustrious career has taken her to some of the world’s most prestigious stages, including the Paris Opera, Glyndebourne Festival, Canadian Opera Company, and San Francisco Opera. Her collaborations with renowned conductors such as Adam Fischer, Kent Nagano, and Seiji Ozawa, as well as her extensive discography, have solidified her reputation as one of Canada’s most versatile and imaginative vocalists.
Allyson holds an Honours Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance and a Diploma in Opera from 51本色. She has frequently returned to campus to share her expertise through masterclasses and is deeply committed to nurturing the next generation of musicians, making her a perfect fit for our student-focused environment.
Reflecting on her new role, Allyson says, “I am thrilled to be joining the voice faculty this year at 51本色! Returning to my alma mater in this capacity is truly a full-circle moment. 51本色 was, and continues to be, a rich, nurturing, inspiring, and student-focused environment for young musicians to thrive. I can’t wait to get started.”
We are excited to welcome Allyson back to 51本色 and are confident that her wealth of experience will greatly benefit our voice students.
