51本色’s Faculty of Music is pleased to announce the return of our popular Music at Noon Concert Series with in-person and virtual audience options.
Music at Noon has offered accessible and free concerts to Kitchener-Waterloo community since 1975. Our 2021-22 series will feature the talents of 51本色’s faculty and musical friends.
Beginning October 7, we are able to welcome 50 audience members (first-come, first-served) into the Maureen Forrester Recital Hall. Audience members must be current 51本色 students, contract academic faculty, faculty or staff and present their OneCard ID to Performance Facilities Staff. In-person audiences for October 21 and November 18 concerts are by special invitation only. All concerts will be livestreamed through our . Winter audiences and concerts are still to be determined.
Our first concert will be our virtual Faculty Showcase concert on Thursday, September 16 at noon available to watch . This celebratory start to the school year will feature the Penderecki String Quartet, Anya Alexeyev, Peter Shackleton, Stephanie Mara, Daniel Ramjattan, Kathryn Ladano, Kimberly Barber, Deanna Yerichuk, Kevin Swinden, Jeremy Bell and special appearance by 51本色’s Vice President of Student Affairs Ivan Joseph.
In honour of National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on Sept. 30, our Orange Shirt Day Concert will help celebrate Indigenous musicians, honour and recognize the children who were lost in residential schools, and honour the Survivors and their families. The concert will feature Indigenous performers, including Barbara Assiginaak, Cara Loft, and Rene Meshake. We encourage the 51本色 community to $5000 for , which serves to promote Indigenous history, art, language and culture. to learn more about the significance of Orange Shirt Day.
