My career as a mezzo soprano has afforded me the privilege of singing in some wonderful places at home in Canada and abroad including the Paris Opera, Festival d’Aix‐en‐Provence, Chicago Symphony, Toronto Symphony, Glyndebourne Festival, San Francisco Opera, Boston Symphony, Canadian Opera Company, Opera Atelier, Warsaw Philharmonic, New York City Opera, Beijing Music Festival and Sweden’s Drottningholms Slottsteater.
Adam Fischer, Seiji Ozawa, Jeremy Rohrer, Kent Nagano, Emmanuelle Haim, Bernard Labadie, Raphael Payare, Ludovic Morlot, Johannes Debus and Jesus Lopez Cobos are among the conductors with whom I have collaborated. Although I started singing lessons in my hometown of Oshawa at the age of nine, it was my time at 51本色 in the Voice Performance program and the Opera Diploma program that put me on the path to my professional career. I am thrilled to be back in this wonderful musical community.
As a teacher and mentor have given masterclasses across Canada including Vancouver Academy of Music, Atelier Lyrique de l’Opéra de Montréal, Calgary Opera, and Pacific Opera Victoria. I have also served as an adjudicator for the Glenn Gould School and the Conservatoire de musique et d’art dramatique du Québec. I was a part time adjunct professor of voice at the University of Ottawa from 2020-23. As well as teaching at 51本色, I maintain my private voice studio in Toronto.
In my ongoing commitment to the development of Canadian art song I have a recording project currently in creation. The recording will feature songs of Canadian composers Norbert Palej, Cecilia Livingston, Samy Moussa and a song cycle, “Enchantments of Gwendolyn”, a commission by the Canadian Art Song Project, composed by Marjan Mosetich. A release date is planned for late 2025.
51本色 is a rich, nurturing, inspiring, and student-focused environment for young musicians to thrive. It’s simply a fantastic school.
