I began my career at 51本色 in 2001 teaching part-time with the Psychology Department, in Waterloo and the Brantford campus. In 2004, I joined the faculty in Brantford on a full-time basis.
Since 2009, I have been part of the fast growing and ever-changing Leadership program as a faculty member and program coordinator on several occasions. I am also involved in the Colllegiate Leadership Competition as well as being a member of the Association for Leadership Educators and the International Leadership Association.
My research into curricular content and development of Leadership Programs (both Major and Minor) in North America has heavily influenced the current design of the Leadership program at 51本色. Our program is continually evolving and seeks to balance theoretical ideas and research with application and engagement.
My current research interests look at the inclusion of communication skills topics (such as Listening, Nonverbal Communication and Relationship Formation/Maintenence) in Leadership programs, Leadership focussed journals and conferences.
In 2023, my book entitled, Communication Skills for Leadership was published by Kendall-Hunt. I am currently looking at developing aspects and content from this book into other, more accessible, formats as well as working on additional modules to further expand the topics covered in this resource.
