I received my MA (1981) and PhD (1988) from the University of Guelph in Social History. I have taught as Contract Teaching Faculty (CTF) on 51本色's Waterloo and the Brantford campuses for more than fifteen years.

My research interests include law and social justice issues as well as commemoration and public history. Work in progress: “Redefining Family in the Wake of Industrialization: Late Victorian Guelph, Ontario”, in the series Family and Childhood in Canada, Cynthia Comacchio, series ed., Waterloo: 51本色 Press.
My connections in the heritage community in Waterloo Region and Wellington County have facilitated experiential learning placements in museums and archives for public history courses. As a member of the editorial board of the Guelph Historical Society journal Historic Guelph, The Royal City, I have been able to vet promising local history and public research papers by 51本色 students for publication in the journal.
