Currently, I am a PhD candidate in the Faculty of Education at Western University in the critical policy, equity and leadership studies stream.
With over 12 years of experience, I am an Ontario certified teacher, author and education and training professional, with local and international experience in elementary/secondary school/adult teaching. I deliver professional development to governments, non-profit organizations and schools on diversity, equity, inclusion and intercultural competence. This includes leadership, well-being, and teacher and administrator training.
I completed a masters degree in educational leadership at Leicester University, UK, a Bachelor of Education at Ottawa University and a BA in Psychology at Western University.
My current research interests include culturally responsive and compassion-based approaches in school-community partnerships which promote equity, inclusion and well-being. This includes a particular interest in supporting refugee/newcomers students' successful adaptation.
My previous graduate experience includes supporting research and policy development with the Ontario Ministry of Education in 2016 to update the Ontario leadership framework for school and district leaders to reflect more equity, inclusion and well-being. I also have experience with international scholars, examining refugee student integration in the kindergarten to grade 12 schools in Canada, Europe and the US.
